Toilet, commode, pot, stool or throne. One piece, two piece or lowboy. Round front or elongated. Kohler, American Standard, Toto or Eljer. Gravity flow or power assisted. Heated, remote control seats and spray features. Toilets are very personal when it comes to style and functionality. So how do you choose the right one for your bathroom?
The price for a basic white 1.5 gallon gravity flow toilet starts at approximately $100. If you want features like dual flush, power assisted, heated seats and spray cleaning in your bathroom, the cost can easily exceed $1,000. Most people spend between $250 to $500.
If design, color or functions do not matter to you, then only consider comfort. Decide on if you like round front or elongated better and make sure you like the height. Keep in mind, if you live in California, toilets must not exceed 1.5 gallon per flush.
The most popular toilets are manufactured in the United States by Kohler, Toto, American Standard, Eljer and many others. They are engineered and thoroughly tested. Personally, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the major manufacturers. I suggest going to your local plumbing warehouse and sitting on few.
